Kendra F. Dunlap, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and specialize in therapy with adolescents and adults impacted by trauma and wanting to explore issues around identity and intersectionality. I also work with families looking for better connection and wanting to address the impact of intergenerational trauma. I have been a practicing therapy for over 12 years and am passionate in providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed therapy which centers on an awareness of the complex impact trauma (any perceived trauma) has on a person’s efforts to cope and navigate the world. I am particularly interested in working with people from marginalized communities to destigmatize mental health.
My clients often are looking for a safe and supportive space to explore and discuss issues centered on intersectional oppressions, identity struggles, managing anxiety and stress, depression, relational disconnection, improving self-esteem and communication skills. I bring a strength-based, collaborative and integrative approach to my therapeutic practice, and draw upon Attachment, Relational, Cognitive-Behavioral, Sensorimotor, EMDR and trauma-informed concepts and techniques to inform my practice.
