“Trauma decontextualized in a person looks like personality. Trauma decontextualized in a family looks like family traits. Trauma decontextualized in a people looks like culture.”

Kendra F. Dunlap, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist/psychotherapist with over 18 years of experience and expertise in supporting individuals through personal exploration, healing, and transformation. I am passionate about providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed therapy, which centers on an awareness of the impact trauma (any perceived trauma) has on a person’s efforts to cope and navigate the world. I welcome all to my practice and am particularly interested in working with BIPOC and marginalized communities to destigmatize mental health and foster wellness.

My clients are often looking for a safe and supportive space where they can bring their authentic whole selves and explore and discuss issues centered on intersectional oppressions, identity exploration, trauma exploration, managing anxiety and stress, depression reduction, relational and attachment struggles, managing imposter syndrome, improving self-esteem, and increasing communications skills.

I bring a strength-based and collaborative approach to my therapeutic practice. I integrate IFS (Internal Family Systems), Attachment/relational, CBT, Sensorimotor, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) concepts and techniques to inform my therapeutic work.
